Head of Azerbaijan Red Crescent Society: We intend to implement donations

The Azerbaijani Red Crescent Society intends to implement the policy of donations, as well as strengthen activities in the field of youth policy, Society Head Novruz Aslanov told journalists today.
"The public associations and non-governmental organizations need a strong material base to realize their missions, and I believe that our policy of donations will receive a large scale in Azerbaijan," he added.

The Azerbaijani Red Crescent Society was established March 10, 1920, by Lieutenant-General Aliaga Shikhlinski. Presently, the society has 270,000 members and 18,000 volunteers.

The Society plays an indispensable role in the life of the Azerbaijani society, Azerbaijani Presidential Administration Socio-Political Department Head Ali Hasanov said at a ceremony celebrating the 90 anniversary of the society. According to him, these activities are approved by Islam, which welcomes the assistance to the disabled, the poor and those in need.

Azerbaijani Parliamentary Vice-Speaker Bahar Muradova expressed the hope that the Red Crescent Society will continue its activities in the name of Azerbaijan and humanism.
