Heavy fire broke out in Baku's Icheri Sheher - PHOTOS - UPDATE

Heavy fire in a three-storey residential building in the Icheri Sheher (Inner City) of Baku at Boyuk Gala, 16 broke out yesterday evening. About 20 fire engines and 6 ambulances arrived at the scene. Later, the fire was extinguished.

The scene was encircled by Emergency Ministry employees . Official data on the dead and injured is still to be reported. Fire service and police department of Sabail district confirmed the fire is taking place, but the data on victims in its result, and other details were not disclosed.

As was reported later, two people were killed as a result of the incident, said Sabail District Attorney Elchin Sultanov. According to him two bodies (man, woman) were recovered from the scene.

The dead were Akif Akhmedov (85 yrs old) & his wife Elmira Akhundova (73 yrs old). according to Azerbaijani Interior Ministry's representative Elshan Zahidov. Zahidov also pointed out, that the fire broke out approximately at 21:00 (local time) on Saturday, and completely burned residents' property.
