Blasts in Moscow subway kill dozens - UPDATE - PHOTOS - VIDEO

According to Gazeta.ru, photos of two terrorists, who blew themselves up in the Moscow subway, and three of their accomplices, have been distributed in offices of the Interior of the Metropolitan police.

"Photos of the suicide terrorists were made posthumously, and photos of three of their accomplices, including two women and one man, are made by outdoor surveillance cameras," said the source.

"There is every reason to believe that terrorists have stayed a few days in Moscow," the source added.

According to the Russian-based Vzglyad newspaper, today, the citizens of Moscow, the relatives of the terrorist attack victims came to the “Lubyanka” and “Culture Park” subway stations, where the explosions took place.

Hundreds of people come to pay their respects, and leave flowers at the entrances of the stations, in the halls, and on platforms. Some brought photos of the dead and lit candles. Some were unable to hold tears.

Despite the rush hour, there are less passengers in trains and platforms. Police intensively patrols the subway.

The whole Russia on Tuesday mourned the dead in bomb attacks in the subway. The capital has also declared Day of Mourning.

According to recent reports, the explosions killed 39 people.

According to the police, 25 of the 39 victims of the fatal explosions have been identified.

Source said that in some cases, there are big problems with identification, as part of the body is preserved fragmentarily. Currently, there are 73 injured people in Moscow hospitals.

The law enforcement agencies had information about preparation of terrorist acts in Moscow, and shortly before the explosions in the subway conducted mass check-up of documents to identify the suicide bombers, Russia-based "Kommersant" newspaper reported citing unofficial sources.

In particular, the check-ups focused on women with a Caucasian appearance. It could be seen from talks among policemen that the checks were conducted at many subway stations, but they brought no results.

Official information that law enforcement agencies knew about the preparation of blasts in the subway on Monday morning was not confirmed.

However, terrorist attacks were reported to be committed in transportation facilities in Moscow soon.

Moreover, the police received five reports of a bomb threat in Moscow on Sunday. But they all proved false.

The Moscow police has announced a search for an accomplice of terrorists who carried out the explosions in the subway, Interfax reports with reference to a source in law enforcement. The information has not been officially confirmed yet.

According to a source of the new agency, police officers have been handed out composite sketch of a suspected terrorist, who reportedly had a small beard.

Responsibility for the bombings in the Moscow subway was taken on by the Chechen terrorists, acording to CNN, citing an unnamed website close to the terrorists of the Northern Caucasus.

According to Trend News, in connection with today's explosions in the subway two women are being searched for.

Azerbaijani embassy in Russia says no Azerbaijani citizens among Moscow subway blast

“There are no Azerbaijani citizens among those injured and killed during the blast in the Moscow Metro,” Consul of the Azerbaijani Embassy in Russia Huseyn Huseynov said.

“We are in close contact with local authorities on this matter,” Huseynov added.

Two femaile suicide bombers who organized the blasts in Moscow subway, reportedly got on the train on the "South-Western" station.

Source agencies in law enforcement agencies said that the explosion at the "Lubyanka" could have been arranged intentionally, because a building of FSB is at this station. According to sources, a second explosion must have occurred not on the "Park of Culture", and "October", on which the building is located the central office of the Interior Ministry.

"Female suicide bombers were brought, most likely from the Caucasus mountain area. They never been in the subway before, so they couldn't navigate there. They probably were just told the name of the station, where they were to commit this terroristic act - the source told news agencies.

The representative of Metro said that information about the bomber is to be checked with data cameras and outdoor surveillance cameras inside the subway. It was reported earlier that the body of suicide bomber was found at the "Lubyanka" station.

According to the latest reports, the explosions were planned and carried out by suicide terrorists. This was said by the Moscow prosecutor Yuri Semin.

Explosions at a Moscow metro station "Lubyanka" and "Culture Park - radial", according to preliminary data, carried out by suicide bombers. The yields are estimated at 2 to 3 kilograms of TNT.

A criminal case under article "terrorism" has been brought up. Russian president Dmitri Medvedev has been informed of the incidents.

The Azerbaijani Embassy in Russia clarifies information about Azerbaijanis, who may have suffered during the explosion in the Moscow metro this morning is under, the embassy told Trend News.

"We contact the Emergency Situations Ministry's General Headquarter to define the names of the victims and if there were our citizens," the embassy said. "More accurate information will become available in the next two hours."

12 people were killed and 12 wounded in the explosion at the Park Kultury metro station.

Up to 40 people have been reported killed in twin explosions at stations on Moscow's metro rail network, Al Jazeera reported.

The first blast took place at the Lubyanka metro station in the centre of the city, followed by a second explosion at Park Kultury in the southwest of the city.

The cause of the explosions was not immediately clear, but Russian prosectuors said they had opened an investigation into a possible act of "terrorism".

Speaking about the Lubyanka attack, Irina Andrianova, a spokewsoman for Russia's emergencies ministry, told the Itar-Tass news agency: "14 people died in the wagon of the train and 11 on the platform.

"The blast hit the second carriage of a metro train that stopped at Lubyanka, at 07:56 (03:56 GMT)."

The headquarters of Russia's Federal Security Service (FSB), successor to the Soviet-era KGB, is located just above Lubyanka station.

At least 15 people were reported to have been killed in the later blast at Park Kultury.

"Both attacks took place on what is known as the Red Line, or line number one," Al Jazeera's Neave Barker, reporting from Moscow, said.

"This has to be seen as a politically motivated attack targeting what is perhaps one of the most symbolic signs of Russian authority in the capital when thousands of people are using one of the most heavily used metros in the world."

An explosion rocked another central Moscow metro station on Monday during rush hour, shortly after a first blast that killed at least 20 people, Russian news agencies and officials said, Reuters reported.

"This blast rocked Park Kultury at 0838 (12:38 a.m. ET)," Interfax said, quoting a security source. "There are people killed and injured as well."

As a result of the explosion at the metro station Lubyanka in Moscow, according to preliminary data, 26 people are killed - 15 on board and 11 on the platform, told RIA Novosti the head of information department of the Emergencies Ministry Irina Andrianova.
