President of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev has extended his congratulations to the country's Orthodox Christian community on the occasion of Easter, AzerTAj News Agency reported.
"Representatives of different nations and divine religions have peacefully coexisted in Azerbaijan throughout history in an atmosphere of good neighborhoodness and brotherhood, mutual respect and trust," the President said in his message.
The Head of State stressed that all nations, ethnic and religious communities, which form the multi-national and multi-confessional society of Azerbaijan, have preserved their traditions, language and culture. And preserving historic and cultural legacy and ethnic-cultural diversity is an issue the government of Azerbaijan has attached a particular importance to "Azerbaijan`s Orthodox Christian community, which is part of the country's multi-national and multi-confessional society, is closely involved in its socio-political life, fully benefiting from democratic and legal situation and freely carrying out their national-religious duties and ceremonies. May this blessed holiday bring strong health, happiness and prosperity to you and your families", said the President.
