Some 578 video cameras have been installed in Baku, Interior Ministry's Chief Road Police Department's head Elshan Kazimov said.

According to him, the Department's employees are planned to install about 4,000 video cameras within automated management system "Safe City" in Baku.
Kazimov said that the cameras are located, in particular, at the intersection of roads and in crowded areas.
"This system plays a special role in detection of wanted vehicles, automatically records the state registration signs. In addition, the system records the occurred traffic accidents and transfers information to the traffic patrol service," he said.
Cars passing red lights and violating other traffic rules, an analysis of traffic holdup occurring on the roads are automatically determined, and the total number of cars is determined and the speed of their movement is measured by using the new system.
Kazimov said that the system "Automatic traffic control" covering 106 intersections is introduced in Baku. Movement in 15 intersections is observed by using the video cameras.
