An event held in New York on the occasion of Nowruz holiday

On Thursday in Turkish Center in New York City was held an event on the occasion of Nowruz, organized by the Permanent Missions of Azerbaijan, Kazakhstan, Turkey, Turkmenistan and Uzbekistan to the UN, as well as major consulates of Turkey, Kazakhstan and Uzbekistan in New York, according to a press release of the Permanent Mission of Azerbaijan to the UN.

The information about feast of Nowruz celebrated by many countries for over three thousand years, the festival, which reflects the ancient traditions such as the good-neighborliness, mutual respect and tolerance, was given on the event. It was also noted about the importance of the main UN General Assembly resolution from 23 February, at the initiative of Azerbaijan, about recognition March 21 as International Day of Nowruz.

The concert program with participation of representatives of culture of these countries and presentation of dishes of national cuisines of participants was organized at the end of the event.

The event was attended by the permanent representatives of foreign states to the UN, chief consuls and officials from the UN.
