Nearly 200 people killed in road accidents in Azerbaijan this year

Republic State Traffic Police Office has released statistics of the road accidents recorded in Azerbaijan in the first quarter of 2010.

Chief of public affairs department, lieutenant-colonel Kamran Aliyev said that 517 road accidents took place in the country within three months of the year, 179 were killed, 518 injured in the accidents.

A total of 245 of the road accidents were recorded in Baku leaving 88 dead and 231 injured.

Kamran Aliyev said 217 road accidents related to pedestrians were recorded in the first quarter of 2010; 82 were killed, 165 injured in the aftermath of these accidents.
