Azerbaijan faces shortage of lawyers

Azerbaijan faces shortage of lawyers, Head of Legislation and Legal Expertise Department of the Azerbaijani Presidential Administration Shahin Aliyev told the journalists.

"There are problems associated with insufficient number of lawyers in Azerbaijan," Aliev said. "But, the country takes practical steps in this regard."

Currently, around 800 lawyers operate in Azerbaijan. The country holds one of the last positions among the European countries for this indicator. Only 5 lawyers account for 100,000 people in Azerbaijan, German expert Thomas German told the media earlier.

The Bar Association holds admission to the bar on a competitive basis to solve this problem, Aliyev added.
