Underground city discovered at the Caspian Sea bottom

During the recent studies in the Caspian Sea, Azerbaijan archeologists made several very important discoveries.

They have discovered underground city in the Bay Bayil settlement, the remains of an ancient Mugan city in the Salyan region in the area of the Shirvan Reserve, remains of a shipwreck on the Sangi-Mugan island and others, the Azerbaijan Ministry of Culture and Tourism said.

Under the order of the Minister of Culture and Tourism Abulfaz Garayev, extensive works will be carried out with a view to acceding to the UNESCO Convention on Protection of Underwater Sites.
