The memorial complex to Azerbaijanis in Sevastopol will be restored till the Victory Day. But landslide is moving towards the monument, Chairman of the Sevastopol City Administration Valery Saratov said after visiting the memorial on April 17.
Saratov said it is spiritual duty of Sevastopol residents to restore memorial complex built on the Sapun hill in honor of the 77th Azerbaijan division that participated in liberation of Crimea from the Nazis in 1944. "The city has pledged to restore the monument,” said the head of the city.
“The monument will be restored in a week.”
Overhaul of the pedestal of the monument and memorial wall remains open, he added.
"Since the memorial has been built, the landslides have destroyed supporting structures and walls of the memorial complex. We plan overhaul of the pedestal and the wall after May 9 with direct participation of Azerbaijan,” Saratov noted.
