Azerbaijan changes rules of providing information on child's birth

Azerbaijani Parliament adopted changes and additions to the Family Code at the meeting held on April 20.

"According to the amendments made to the Article 167 of the Family Code, information on the birth of a child should be provided no later than one month from the date of birth and information on the birth of a dead child should be given within three days," - Musa Guliyev, Deputy Chairman of the Azerbaijani Parliamentary Committee for Social Policy said.

According to him, this period was three months in the previous version.

"In accordance with this change, it also envisaged to make addition to the Code of Administrative Violations. Under this amendment, warning will be given for late provision of the information on child's birth to the relevant executive authorities or provision false information to medical institution," - MP said.

According to Guliyev, for the offences officials will be fined in the amount of 100-300 manats: "For a failure to register the birth within a period specified by law, without any valid reason, a warning will be given to parents or they will be fined in the amount of 10 manat" - Guliyev said.
