First portal of Azerbaijani history presented - UPDATE - PHOTOS

Today, Baku hosted the presentation of the first Azerbaijani history portal - www.history.az.

Speaking at the event, Head of Azerbaijan's Irali Public Union Jeyhun Osmanli said the aim of creating such a portal is to provide the information about Azerbaijan's history in e-form.

Noting the importance of the portal in bringing Azerbaijan's historical truth to the world, Political Analysis and Informational Provision Department Head at the Azerbaijani Presidential Administration Elnur Aslanov said Armenia committed genocide against Azerbaijan in 1918 and it is essential to bring the information about the Armenian genocide policy to the attention of the whole world.

The first portal of Azerbaijani history - www.history.az -  combining the electronic version of the historical books, documents and other sources in which Azerbaijan is mentioned, has been created.

"It was impossible to establish a complete electronic version for short time (a portal has been created since January 2010) since there are too many written sources about Azerbaijani history. But it was possible to create an electronic version of the particularly important sources," the Public Association "Ireli", co-founder of the website, said.

The portal combines digital library, photo gallery maps, numismatic material, carpets, archaeological excavations. Website provides extensive information about any era in the history of the country. Students and teachers can research any required theme.

The portal of Azerbaijani history was created with the support of the Azerbaijani Ministry of Youth and Sport, Azerfon LLC, HP and Ireli Public Union.
