Work in environmental field in Azerbaijan is good contribution to worldwide "green movement"

The ongoing work in the environmental field in Azerbaijan is a good contribution to the "green movement" in the world, Azerbaijani Ecology and Natural Resources Minister Huseyngulu Bagirov said.

The ministry prepared an action plan in the environmental field, covering 2010-2014, which is submitted to the government, Bagirov said at a press conference.

The plan will be implemented jointly with the ministries of industry and energy, agriculture and the State Oil Company of Azerbaijan Republic (SOCAR).

Forest area increased by 0.4% over the past two years, he said. Bagirov also said special attention is given roadside landscaping, planting new trees and improving soil quality, as well as establishment of irrigation systems.
