Azerbaijan appoints new head to agriculture ministry's veterinary service

Azerbaijani Agriculture Minister Ismet Abbasov signed a decree to appoint Siala Rustamova Head of the Ministry State Veterinary Service. Rustamova will replace Ismayil Hasanov, who previously was dismissed under the Ministry's Board decision dated April 22, Ministry's Spokesman Murtuzali Hajiyev said.

Prior to her appointment to this position Rustamova led the Republican Laboratory of Veterinary Service.

Hasanov was dismissed due to habitual negligence in office that even led to the death of cattle imported into the country from abroad, Hajiyev said. In this regard, Hasanov already received a serious warning in September 2009. In addition, he spread disinformation about the creation of a new therapeutic drug against brucellosis, which has aroused interest in the world, Hajiyev said.
