
During the meeting of the Interreligious Council of the CIS countries in Baku, it was decided to establish a Board of Trustees, which will raise funds
for organization of conferences, creating and maintaining website of
the Council. This offer was adviced by the new co-chair of the Council,
Patriarch of Moscow and All Russia Kirill and supported by members of
the presidium of the Council.
Patriarch offered to regularly hold meetings of the Executive Committee in various capitals of the CIS, which will undertake the preparation of the presidium's meeting. The Executive Committee of the Interreligious Council of the CIS will study everything that happens in the CIS, and assess from a religious point of view.
During the meeting the chairman of the Moscow Patriarchate's Department for Church and Public Relations, Archpriest Vsevolod Chaplin was elected the Chairman of the Executive Committee of the Council, and the priest Georgy Roshchin - secretary coordinator of the Executive Committee.
At the opening of the meeting Patriarch Kirill said that at thepresent time, great changes are underway, so the meeting of the Council is both practical and symbolic.
"People will see, that the religious leaders can agree between each other, and this example will have a significant impact" - the patriarch said. - We must get rid of the double standarts in the world. Interreligious Council of the CIS doesn't require compromises from anyone; everyone remains faithful to his interests.
The Patriarch expressed his confidence that the efforts of the forthcoming summit will strengthen the interreligious relations in the CIS.
The summit of religious leaders of the CIS countries started in Baku on April 25th.
