According to Deputy Director of the Republican Anti-plague stations under the Ministry of Health, Shair Gurbanov, the closing of the beach in Azerbaijan may very well occur, "if the monitoring of the beach reveals cholera, then it will be temporarily closed".
According to Gurbanov, if the water heats up to 16 degrees and above, the anti-plague station workers conduct monitoring, to find out whether cholera is being developed.
"We were supposed to start the monitoring on the 1st of May, however the weather conditions caused the delay. Usually, this monitoring is being carried out from 1st of May till 1st of November", said Gurbanov.
Gurbanov also pointed out, that these checkups are being done in Baku, Absheron, and other regions of Azerbaijan.
"This is being done, in order to prevent people from getting infected with cholera. Last year we did not find any signs of cholera, however the years before there were some cases of cholera found", the deputy said.
