On May, the Human Rights Institute of the National Academy of Sciences of Azerbaijan hosted a conference on "The Role of Civil Society Forum of the “Eastern Partnership" of the European Union in the process of European integration."
The conference was organized under the project entitled "Bringing the truth about Karabakh to the world community through local and international NGOs.”
The event participants noted that local civil society institutions must cooperate closely with international organizations to raise awareness or the world community about Karabakh.
Head of the National NGO Forum Rauf Zeyni noted that Armenian aggression has resulted in occupation of 20 percent of Azerbaijani lands and over 1 million citizens were forcibly evicted from their lands.
The main task of NGOs is to protect the rights of these people in such a situation, he said.
Thus, civil society organizations, cooperating with international institutions, should strive to implement projects related to the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict, Zeyni added.
