Azerbaijani defense minister meets WWII veterans

Azerbaijani Defense Minister Safar Abiyev met with a group of Azerbaijani veterans of the World War II on occasion of the 65th anniversary of victory over fascism, the Azerbaijani Defense Ministry said. Abiyev said Azerbaijanis made a significant contribution to the victory, showing unprecedented valor at the front and rear.

According to him, the President has approved National Programme on Celabrating 65-year Anniversary of Victory in the 1941-1945 War. The Ministry of Defence is taking steps to carry out tasks set in the document. The Minister gave the veterans commemorative medal on 65th anniversary of the Victory, as well as valuable gifts.
