Dutch public remembers Azerbaijani war hero

Memorial events dedicated to participants of the World War II are held in all cities and provinces across the Netherlands each year on May 4.

The well-known member of Anti-Fascist Resistance Movement of Azerbaijani origin Mammad Mammadov was remembered in the Dutch city of Oisterwijk with special respect, said the Azerbaijani Embassy in the Netherlands.

During the event held in memory of the World War participants, Mammadov was remembered with special honor. Mayor of city Hans Jansen mentioned in his speech the importance of "erecting the monument to the legendary" Medo" in the city of Oisterwijk for his heroism in the fight against fascism. The mayor thanked the ambassador of Azerbaijan Fuad Isgandarov and thanked the staff of the embassy for accepting the invitation to attend the event, and appreciated the attention of the government of Azerbaijan to the participants of the war.

After the event was held a ceremony of laying wreaths and flowers. On behalf of the Azerbaijani embassy, wreaths were laid to the grave of Mammad Mammadov and participants of the World War II.
