Amendments and annexes to the “Traffic law” and Code of Administrative Offences have been discussed at the last meeting of the extraordinary session of the Azerbaijani parliament.

Chairman of the parliament’s committee for legal policy and statehood Ali Huseynov gave information about the document. He said a part of the amendments proposed to the laws are connected with the explanation of the terms.
“The minimum age for driving licenses is changed. We know, that part of the traffic accidents happen because of this. Therefore, it is proposed to make change in giving driving permit on some categories. It is proposed to give driving license at the age of 18 for the vehicles within categories A, B, C, driving license at the age of 19 for the vehicles falling within category BE, driving license at the age of 21 for the trams, trolleybuses and the vehicles falling within categories CE, D, driving license at the age of 24 for the vehicles falling within category DE,” he said.
Huseynov also said, that according to the proposed amendments, if the cars and buses have rear-view mirror allowing the driver to see rearward, it is permitted to hang curtains on the windows, use tints or sun blinds on rear windows.
“Changes are also made in the speed of movement. According to the proposed amendment, the speed must not be more than 20km/h in the residential zones and yards,” he said.
Huseynov said amendments had also been made to the Code of Administrative Offences. In a number of cases punishments for the violation of traffic legislation are more strict.
MP Nazim Mammadov offered to give differentiating badges to the cars of the parliamentarians.
MP Panah Huseyn said the amendments and annexes will result in corruption. Following the discussions, the document was put to the vote and adopted. To date, the minimum driving age has been 18. This figure has been 20 for the drivers of trams, 21 for the drivers of trolleybuses.
