Azerbaijan prepares bill on environmental impact assessment

The primary text of the bill on "Environmental impact assessment in the Republic of Azerbaijan" was discussed at a subregional workshop organized by the Azerbaijani Ministry of Ecology and Natural Resources and the Swiss Federal Department for Environment, the Ecology Ministry of Azerbaijan said.

The workshop jointly with experts from Kyrgyzstan, Kazakhstan, Uzbekistan, Turkmenistan, Tajikistan and Georgia discussed current international model in assessing the impact on the environment, legal framework. The discussions were also attended by representatives of the United Nations Economic Commission for Europe, the University of Bern in Switzerland, and heads of regional ecological centres.
