Azerbaijan destroys 2.7 tons of drugs seized by judicial sentence

The drugs were confiscated in 350 criminal cases, Head of the working group at the State Commission for Combating Drug Abuse and Illicit Drug Trafficking Araz Aliguliyev said yesterday.

943 kilograms of hashish, about 280 kg of heroin, more than 186 kilograms of marijuana, 68 kilograms of opium, approximately 14,000 ecstasy tablets and more than 1,200 kg of cannabis bush were destroyed.

Aliguliyev stressed that hashish, heroin and marijuana mostly used in the domestic market. He added that the law enforcement and other agencies should strengthen the fight against drug trafficking.
