Admissions to the first form of secondary schools changed in Azerbaijan

The procedure of admission to the first form of secondary schools has changed in Azerbaijan, Education Ministry told APA. The Ministry said the application of the new rules proceeds from the requirements of the law on education.
According to the new rules, admission to the first form of schools differs from that of previous years. Parents used to apply directly to school for admission of their children, but according to the new rules the process will now consist of two stages. Parents will first appeal to the Admission Commissions established in the region and city education departments.

Admission Commissions will function in every region, city education department, Baku Education Department on July 1-31. The commission will receive the documents of the children born from September 15 till December 1, 2004. Parents are to submit application, copy of the certificate of birth. Following this, children will be received individually by a special commission, the level of their knowledge will be tested. The list of the approved children is to be submitted to the Education Ministry on August 15 -25.

The second stage of the admission will start from August 15. During this stage the commission established at the Education Ministry will receive the children passing the first stage. Children will be asked simple questions. After getting positive opinion from the commission of the Education Ministry, a child can be admitted to the school chosen by the parent. Up to now, the children reached 6 years of age by the end of October were admitted to the first form. Permission was received from the Education Ministry for the children who reached 6 after November 1.
