Trade Unions Confederation chairman: Nagorno-Karabakh conflict has negative impact on development of sanatoriums

05 July 2010 [14:53] - TODAY.AZ
Nagorno-Karabakh conflict has a serious negative impact on the development of sanatoriums.
"The military situation in the country since 1989, severe economic problems, tough conditions of a free market economy affected resorts and spas in our country. Motels 'Shusha', 'Istisu' remained in the territories occupied by Armenian aggressors. "Resort" was damaged for more than 2.2 billion manat and bedspace reduced by 7,939 units," the Confederation of Trade Unions chairman, MP Sattar Mehbaliyev said in an interview with the official website of the ruling New Azerbaijan Party.

Most of the tourist camps were provided for the accommodation of refugees and internally displaced people.

"About 8,500 refugees and internally displaced people live in 70 percent of resorts. Utility costs, health expenditures and other costs rendered to the citizens, are mostly paid by the funds of trade unions.

Meanwhile, the Confederation of Free Trade Unions has mobilized all its internal capacity to safeguard and protect the health of employees of JSC "Resort" and creates the necessary conditions to provide facilities for medical treatment.

There is a resort association, five health centers, one medical and pension holiday home in the trade unions. Only 2,250 units of about 12 600 units are used. One reason is that the refugees live there. A part of the hospital bed still exists in the occupied territories. Another reason is that the above-mentioned institutions "mothballed" due to technical unsuitability," he said
