A MASS FIGHT OCCURED BETWEEN TERTER AND AGDAM AZERBAIJANIS - UPDATE

"The clashes between internally displaced persons and local residents in Terter region of Azerbaijan were calmed down, acting police chief of the region Izzet Asgarov told APA. He said the confrontation began on June 15. A group of internally displaced persons from Shotlanli village of Terter region scuffled with the local residents.

“The internally displaced persons were beaten by the local residents. Police is investigating that incident. Today the beaten IDPs came to the center of the region and attacked the locals”.

The acting police chief said the incident was investigated under the article 220 (mass unrests). “The investigation is going on. According to the preliminary reports, the confrontation was based on the disputes over the personal terms”.

According to the latest received reports, two police officers were injured during the mass fight, Tartar Region Police Office told APA.

According to the received information, 8 people were wounded during the fight. Two of them are police officers – chief of Terter Region Police Office Ilgar Farajov and an officer of Region Police Office Hasan Mammadov. They were hospitalized. 4 local residents – participants of the clash have been detained. Currently, measures are being continued in direction of suppressing the clash.

Reportedly, the whole incident took off at 15:00, and it all started in one of the central streets of the city. Some people, reportedly, tried to burn some facilities, however the fire was quickly extinguished by the fire brigades.

Though, according to the information about the clash happened between the two groups confirmed by Terter Region Executive Power and Tartar Region Police Office, the incident had not been explained. Currently, servicemen and officers of Barda Military Unit of the Interior Ministry are involved in the site. Local residents said that one of the sides were Vahhabits.
