Chairperson of the State Committee for Family, Women and Children Problems Hijran Huseynova met with newly-appointed UN Resident Coordinator and Chief of UNDP Fikret Akcura.

Akcura noted he would focus his activity on protection of rights of women and children, improvement of people's prosperity here. He expressed assurance that cooperation with the Committee would produce good results.
Huseynova told of the Committee's activity and cooperation with the UN. Both organizations implemented joint projects in enhancing women`s role in decision-making and women`s rights education. The “XXI century without violence against women" project signed by the Heydar Aliyev Foundation, State Committee, United Nations Population Fund is being successfully implemented.
The Azerbaijani official pointed out the law on domestic violence was adopted by the Milli Majlis this year at the initiative of President of the Heydar Aliyev Foundation, UNESCO and ISESCO goodwill ambassador, MP Mehriban Aliyeva.
She pointed out economic stability in Azerbaijan was established thanks to successful domestic and foreign policy of President Ilham Aliyev. According to her, important projects have been implemented to ensure human rights in the country. Discussions also revolved around prospects for cooperation between the State Committee and UN.
