"The principle of 'single window' sytem introduced in Azerbaijani customs has proved effective. The State Customs Committee of Azerbaijan is always ready to cooperate in this field with parties concerned ," the committee head Aydin Aliyev said at a workshop on Azerbaijan's experience in this field.

The workshop was conducted with ADB's financial support within the program of the Asian Regional Economic Cooperation (CAREC).

Representatives of eight countries, including Kazakhstan, Uzbekistan, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan, Afghanistan, China and Mongolia, ADB representatives, UN Socio-Economic Commission for Asia and the Pacific, UN Economic Commission for Europe and others attended the workshop.

The representative of the UN Economic Commission for Europe Virginia Cram-Martos said that introducing of "single window" is important for the region of Central Asia.

"Azerbaijan has surpassed other countries in the region in introducing 'single window' and achieved great success," she said.

She said that Central Asia is removed from potential markets as the Caucasus. She said that all these countries will rapidly join regional markets and may even provide the market with more competitive products compared to European countries within the improvement of trade.

CAREC member-countries must develop a regional market  to develop cooperation in the customs area with the European countries, she said.
