Book dedicated to founder of Azerbaijan's national press presented in Baku

The book was published on the occasion of the 135th anniversary of the Azerbaijani national press with the support of the Association for Civil Society Development in Azerbaijan and the Fund for the Protection of Freedom of Speech.

The publication includes Zerdabi's correspondence with Azerbaijani  playwright Mirza Fatali Akhundov, memories of Zardabi and articles about his life and work.

Azerbaijan marks the National Press Day on July 22. The first printed edition of the Azerbaijani national press was released July 22, 1875 by Hasan Bey Zardabi. The Akinchi newspaper was published twice per month with a circulation of 300-400 newspapers until Sept. 29, 1877.
