15 drug smugglers were detained and 425 kg of drugs was confiscated during anti-drug operations conducted by the Ministry of National Security last month.

A criminal investigation was launched on 5 cases.
397 kg hashish smuggled from Iran to Russia via Azerbaijan was confiscated from the Azerbaijani and Russian citizens, public relations center of the Ministry of National Security said.
During operations carried out in Lankaran, a kilogram of heroin was found in a car driven by Baku resident Fazil Aliyev. It was also smuggled from Iran to Azerbaijan near Telman village of Astara region. An Iranian citizen, who helped him to get drug is being identified now by the investigators.
As a result of another operation, 16 kg 170,94 g hashish and 17 g heroin was confiscated from a group of drug smugglers – Azerbaijani citizens, who smuggled narcotics jointly with an Iranian citizen, whose identity is being investigated now.
12 kg hashish and about 900 g heroin was found during the operations conducted in Baku and Astara.100 g heroin was confiscated from the residents of Lankaran and Shirvan regions of Azerbaijan.
Anti-drug operations are going on to detain another persons involved in drug smuggling.
