17 years pass since occupation of Azerbaijan's Agdam region

Armenian invaders occupied majority of territory of Agdam on July 23, 1993. The aggressors seized 882 sq km of 1,094 sq km territory of Agdam, one city and 80 villages. Some 128,000 people have become internally displaced persons with 17,000 of them being adult. As a result of occupation of Agdam, Azerbaijan suffered material damage worth $6.179 billion. The damage inflicted only to the region's agriculture is estimated at 992.8 million manat. Over 6,000 people died during the bloody battles in Agdam.

Presently, growth of people of Agdam is 10%. IDPs from Agdam have settled at 875 points in Azerbaijan's 59 regions.
