
Azerbaijan pursues a strategy of sustainable assisting to press, Azerbaijan Press Council chairman Aflatun Amashov said commenting on orders of the Azerbaijani President signed on occasion of 135-th anniversary of the national press.
"A new stage began for the Azerbaijani press. The stronger the Azerbaijani economy, the more obvious care about the press," Amashov said.
Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev signed a decree on measures to strengthen social protection of press representatives. According to the decree, funds worth 5 million manat must be allocated to the Azerbaijani State Support for Media Development Fund from the presidential reserve fund to improve the living conditions of Azerbaijani press representatives and construction of houses.
One-time assistance was rendered to the media according to another presidential decree.
Amashov said that the decree, signed to solve the housing problems of journalists, increase the amount of one-time assistance reflects the state's care of the press.
