The Azerbaijan delegation participated in the 18th international AIDs conference in Vienna on July 18-23.

The delegation led by chairman of the parliamentary committee on social policy Hady Rajabli included MP Musa Guliyev, representatives of the Interior and Justice Ministries, Aids Center and NGOs. Hady Rajabli told AzerTAc reporter that participation of so many delegates suggests the necessity of joint fight against HIV/AIDs.
Azerbaijani specialists provided information about progress accomplished by Azerbaijan in the combat against AIDs.
The Azerbaijani section of the exhibition showcased diagrams, books, brochures, reports on the anti-AIDs projects in the country. On the sidelines of the conference, the Azerbaijan delegation had a number of bilateral meetings, including that with First Lady of Georgia Sandra Elizabeth Roelofs.
She recalled recent meetings in Batumi. Roelofs highlighted the efforts of First Lady of Azerbaijan, President of the Heydar Aliyev Foundation, UNESCO and ISESCO goodwill ambassador Mehriban Aliyeva towards development of science,education, culture and health sectors. Georgian first lady hailed Mehriban Aliyev-led health programs.
The International AIDS Conference is the premier gathering for those working in the field of HIV, as well as policy makers, persons living with HIV and other individuals committed to ending the pandemic.
It is a chance to assess where we are, evaluate recent scientific developments and lessons learnt, and collectively chart a course forward.
