Statistics of crimes committed in Q1 announced in Azerbaijan

A total of 11,375 crimes were recorded in Azerbaijan within the six months of this year, Deputy Interior Minister, Lieutenant-General Vilayat Eyvazov said at the board meeting. Eyvazov said, that compared with the reporting period of previous year blackmail reduced by 33.3%, robbery by 26.3%, brigandage by 14.8%, infliction of bodily harm by 2.3%, rape by 2.6%.

"No fact of kidnapping was recorded during the reporting period. 87.3% of the crimes were solved up 1.3%. The number of the unsolved crimes has decreased by 164 facts," he said.

Eyvazov added, that 188 grave crimes remained unsolved from the previous years were solved together with the prosecuting authorities.

"1134 wanted, including 68 hiding in CIS and other foreign countries were detained. Interpol National Central Bureau in Azerbaijan determined the whereabouts of 45 internationally wanted and 21 wanted through Interpol in other member countries. 110 organized gangs involving 383 people that committed 391 grave crimes, including 12 premeditated murders, 3 kidnappings, 1 fact of banditry, robbery and brigandage 35 facts each. 664 illegal firearms and about 50,000 cartridges were seized, 38 were held accountable for such crimes," he said.

Deputy Minister noted that 4011 counterfeit notes worth AZN 303,000 were removed from the illegal circulation within the six months of the year.
