Azerbaijan's ICT minister meets world's first Muslim female astronaut

Azerbaijan's Communications and Information Technologies Minister Ali Abbasov has met with Anousheh Ansari, world's first female Muslim astronaut, according to "Rosbalt".

Ansari said the meeting focused on development of information and communication technologies in Azerbaijan.

"We discussed future plans and projects, Azerbaijan's role in global affairsm," she added.

She also supported Azerbaijan's plans to develop space communication systems through the launch own communications satellite.

Ansari, born in Iran, visited the International Space Station as a tourist on Sept. 18-20, 2006 becoming the first woman travelling to space. She is the founder and CEO of Prodea Systems, Inc. and a member of the board of trustees of X-Prize Foundation.
