Azerbaijan plans to cut energy consumption by 30% in 2011-2013, the head of technical regulation and standardization department of the State Committee for Standardization, Metrology and Patents, Sabig Abdullayev, said on Wednesday.

"The State Committee has prepared the final draft of a state program for energy saving standards. The project has been agreed with relevant organizations and submitted to the leadership of the country by the Cabinet of Ministers for consideration," Abdullaev said at a presentation of the Information Center Committee today.

He said that the use of 70 new energy saving standards will lead to a 30% saving in power in the country.

"It is possible to achieve such a reduction of energy consumption by using the latest technologies, modern equipment, systems of quality control during production, transportation of energy resources and other areas," Abdullayev said.
