Young man beaten to death in Baku

Nazim Mehdiyev, 30, was taken to a hospital by two young individuals after he sustained serious bodily injuries, Narimanov District Police Office said. However, Mehdiyev died shortly after hospitalization. Forensic medical examination revealed that death was caused by beatings, in particular, strikes with a blunt object on the head and soft tissues in the lumbar, possibly with fist.

It is known that doctors also found fractured ribs and internal bleeding that appeared due to rupture of the liver and lungs. In addition, the body had a lot of bruising. According to the Police Office, young men who brought Mehdiyev to the hospital, immediately left afterwards. But they failed to hide from the police. This morning, detectives arrested Elmar Tagiyev, 27 and Ilyas Aliyev, also 27.

Tagiyev pleaded guilty to the crime during interrogation saying that the incident occurred on the Ziya Bunyadov Avenue. According to him, a conflict between him and Mehdiyev appeared on the basis attitude to issues of honor and dignity. Ilyas Aliyev denied causing grievous bodily harm.

However, medical examiners said character of bodily harm shows that at least two people were involved in beating. According to some reports, the fight occurred as Mehdiyev behaved indecently with respect to one of the closest relatives of the detainees.
