
The Radiation Problems Institute of the Azerbaijani National Academy of Sciences (ANAS) and the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) are training staff to introduce a nuclear reactor as part of a joint research project, the director of the institute, Adil Garibov said.
"The Institute and IAEA have implemented a joint nuclear reactor research project and 15 young people have already been educated as part of it," Garibov explained.
6 Azerbaijani specialists studying nuclear science abroad and another 15 young people are studying the physics of nuclear reactors.
"At present, five Azerbaijani students are working in this field in the Dubna science city in Russia," Garibov added.
The partners in the project will develop a joint report after its completion and if the Azerbaijani government shows interest in developing this field, then the trained staff will be engaged in it.
