International contest on Azerbaijan underway in Lithuania

The new academic year in all secondary schools of Lithuania kicked off with contest “Azerbaijan Through My Eyes”, which was announced by Association of Lithuanian Azerbaijanis, Lithuanian Ministry of Education and Science, Lithuanian National Communities Home and Tourism Center of Lithuanian Youth.

The financial support to the project was provided by the State Committee on the Affairs with Diaspora of Azerbaijan. The contest will be held in September and October and involve pupils of 7-12th grades.

There are 1,442 secondary schools in Lithuania and in most of them Lithuanian is used in teaching. At the same time, the country also has schools where education is offered in Polish, Russian, Belarus, German languages.

The competition is dedicated to the expansion of intercultural relations between Lithuania and Azerbaijan. The main objective of the competition is to inform Lithuanian schoolboys and girls about the history, cultural heritage, geography, nature, national food, architecture, sports, and literature of Azerbaijan through the agency of information technologies. All entries will be submitted to the Tourism Center of Lithuanian Youth before October 25.
