The Azerbaijani Ecology and Natural Resources Ministry held regular monitoring of pollution in the transboundary Kura and Araz Rivers during the first decade of September, the ministry told Trend News today.
During the first decade of September, water consumption in the Kur River decreased by 4.6 cubic meters per second to 85 cubic meters per second compared to the third decade of August.
The monitoring found that phenol and copper are strong pollutants. Biogenic substances exceeded the norm at points where the river is subjected to transboundary contamination in Georgia and Armenia. Water consumption in the Araz River was 6.19 cubic meters per second.
