Azerbaijani border guards arrest 79 wanted people in August

The border guards arrested 11 citizens of Azerbaijan, four of which were from Georgia, Iran and Afghanistan, three from Bangladesh, two Russians and one citizen of Kyrgyzstan.

About 80 people were detained due to irregularities of the border regime in 36 cases. Appropriate actions were taken in respect to the detained. The border guards also arrested 79 wanted persons and handed them over to the law enforcement authorities. In 15 cases, 8,378 kg of drugs were discovered.

As a result of measures to combat smuggling, the officers seized smuggled goods worth about 264,000 manat in 68 cases, including one 9-mm pistol clip, ammunition, other guns, three brass knuckles, three daggers, 1,221 boxes of cigarettes, 14 DVDs, drugs, alcoholic beverages and food.
