Azerbaijani, Italian universities to enhance cooperation

On September 17, AUL and Perugia University signed an agreement of cooperation to enhance and prolong the collaboration between universities. Before an agreement ceremony the rector of AUL, Professor Samad Seyidov held a meeting with the rector of the Perugia Universioty and the the staff of AUL.

At the meeting Seyidov pointed out that the relations between the universities develop not only in education and culture, but also in many other spheres: “A lot of Centres of the European countries are functioning at AUL. The Italian Centre at AUL helps the students to learn the Italian language and to know Italy better. The similarities between Azerbaijan and Italy condition to improve the relatios between our countries in many fields. We can be proud of that the Italian Language takes the first places among the languages taught at AUL and the interest to the language is rising every year.”

Touching upon the international relations of AUL S. Seyidov emphasized that AUL was the winner of the TEMPUS competition announced by the European Union and AUL plays a significant role in the functioning of the program.

The rector of the Perugia University Stefani Giannini thanked Seyidov for his sincere hosting. Speaking of the current opportunities in developing the ties between the universities she added: “3 years ago when I paid a visit to AUL 12 students studied Italian, but now 12 turned into 33. It shows interes to the Italian language in Azerbaijan. I also witnessed that the educational, political, economical bonds strenghthens everyday.”

Further the rector of AUL, and rector of Perugia University signed an agreement of enhamcenets the ties between the universities. The purpose of the agreement is to improve relations, held joint seminars, classes, meetings, conferences. An agreement also includes the exchange of teacher and studedents and help them to participate in Summer Schools and academic programs.

It should be mentioned that different courses regarding the Italian language, culture, history, geography, politics, economics will be organized for the teachers and students and other interested people at AUL. It will popularize the Italian language and culture in Azerbaijan.
