Azerbaijan's Minister of Justice Fikrat Mammadov has attended the 15th Annual Conference and General Meeting of the International Association of Prosecutors (IAP) in the Hague, the Netherlands.

The event, which brought together more than 400 delegates from all continents, was opened by Ernst Hirsch Ballin, Minister of Justice of the Netherlands. The conference discussed achievements in tackling organized crime, human trafficking, asset recovery, mutual legal assistance and recovery of fugitive offenders.
According to the existing rules of the association, members of the committee must speak English and can be elected only once in three years. However, having taken into consideration Azerbaijan's tremendous contribution to the development of the association, the tenure of the country's representative was prolonged several times since 1998 to expire in 2010.
For his contribution to the work of executive committee, Azerbaijan's Minister of Justice Fikrat Mammadov was awarded with the certificate of special services of IAP. Head of the anti-corruption department under the Azerbaijan Prosecutor General's Office Kamran Aliyev was elected a member of IAP executive committee.
Azerbaijan prevented the affiliation of the prosecutor general of the so-called Nagorno Karabakh Republic with the IAP Executive Committee. Fikrat Mammadov addressed the event to highlight Azerbaijan`s position on the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict. The Azeri justice minister also met his Dutch counterpart on the sidelines of the event.
