
The Summer School organized for 30 children aged 13 to 16 who need social protection by the Heydar Aliyev Foundation in Ganja within the project "High concern for children with diabetes" from August 23 to September 7 was successfully completed, the foundation reported.
The main purpose of the school was to give sick children deep knowledge about diabetes, develop their sense of self-control, self-service, self-behavoir, self-belief and provide psycho-social rehabilitation.
The teenagers were taught to monitor blood sugar levels before and after eating, regulate the dose of insulin depending on the desired food, recognize the major symptoms of hyperglycemia and render first aid, regulate the insulin dose depending on the expected physical activity.
During this period, trips to historical places of Ganja were organized for children. They visited museums and art galleries in the city. Trips to Shamkir, Dashkesan and Goygol regions were organized for children within the project.
The children who need social protection and came from Baku, Sumgait, Ganja, Sheki towns and Agdam, Lachin, Gubadli, Shusha, Bilasuvar, Shamkir, Dashkesan, Kalbajar, Barda and Tovuz regions got knowledge during the period spent in summer school and pledged to convey the knowledge to their peers in the regions where they live.
