Gang smuggling drugs from Iran to Azerbaijan and Russia rendered harmless

The Azerbaijani National Security Ministry reported that a 9-people group engaged in drug smuggling from Iran to Azerbaijan and onward to Russia was detained as a result of the operational-search activities held to fight the illegal drug trafficking in a month. The officers seized about 274 kilograms of drugs and 4 criminal cases were filed against the arrested.

The Azerbaijani National Security Ministry, State Border Service and The Federal Drug Control Service of the Russian Federation were managed to prevent the illegal drug trafficking on the Iran-Azerbaijan-Russia route as a result of the undertaken joint activities. The officers arrested a group member, Russian citizen Bayram Safarov in the St. Petersburg and seized 60 kilograms of hashish during the arrest.
