
Yesterday, on the Khizin region of Azerbaijan, near the Khizi-Altiagac highway, police detained 6 people (Rafig Akhundov, Akhmed Aliyev, Sabuhi Aliyev, Fuad Askarov, Rufat Rahimov, and Vidadi Shahverdiyev) near the cemetery. Reportedly, men were digging up graves.
According to the district police investigator Sadagat Mammadov, one of the detainees, Rufat Rahimov was at the mentioned cemetery a year ago, with some man from Iran. Rahimov was told that there is gold buried here (32 kgs of it, to be exact). When men started digging up graves, no gold was found, and they were detained by the police.
One of the detainees, Akhmed Aliyev said: "I was called on to help up with the digging. They even promised to pay me money. I was also told that there was gold hidden on that cemetery. So I agreed."
Several shovels and a metalfinder were taken from the detainees. An investigation has been filed on the case.
