Azerbaijani ministry partially eliminates consequences of a natural disaster

Production Union Aztelekom of the Communications and IT Ministry has completed work on eliminating the consequences of accidents occurred due to the disaster caused by increased water levels in the Kura River, the ministry reported.

The operator has completed the rehabilitation of telecommunication networks, devices, communication lines in 36 of 41 areas in the Hajigabul, Imishli, Neftchala, Sabirabad, Zardab, Saatli and Salyan regions.

The company failed to hold reconstruction of telecommunication infrastructure due to high water levels preserved in villages Gasimbeyli, Muradbeyli, Askerbeyli and Ahtaji in the Sabirabad region and in the Novruzlu village in the Saatli village.

Under the plan works, the postal operator LLC Azerpoct completed the construction and remodeling post in the Salyan, Hajigabul and Saatli regions. Compensation to families affected by flooding will also be issued through  this postal operator.

Damage to telecommunications infrastructure caused as a result of the natural disaster caused by increase in water level in the Kur river is estimated at roughly 2.5 million manat, Communications and IT Minister Ali Abbasov said earlier.

The Azerbaijani Cabinet of Ministers gave appropriate instructions in early July, which makes the communications ministry responsible to eliminate the problems caused by the disaster. These funds will be allocated from the Ministry's own resources. Three months are allocated for reconstruction works.
