
Azerbaijan's Minister of Communication and Information Technologies Ali Abbasov has attended a meeting of the Broadband Commission for Digital Development, which took place in New York as part of the UN General Assembly.
Addressing the event, devoted to the Millennium Development Goals, Abbasov highlighted the ICT reforms in Azerbaijan and relevant regional and international projects.
Abbasov met Secretary General of the International Telecommunication Union (ITU) Hamadoun Toure, UNESCO Director-General Irina Bokova, President of National Information Society Agency of Korea (NIA) Kim Seang-tae, Finnish Minister of Communications Suvi Linden and Austrian Minister for Broadband, Communications and the Digital Economy Stephen Conroy.
On the second day of the visit, Abbasov met United Nations Under-Secretary-General Sha Zukang who hailed the progress made in ICT sector in Azerbaijan and called it as an example for the international community. Zukang said he would participate in "BakuTel 2010" exhibition and conference, which is to be organized in Baku on November 23-26.
