No glass dome to be built on top of Maiden Tower

Spokesperson for the "Icheri Shahar" State Historical and Arthetectural Reserve commented on rumors claiming special glass dome will be built on top of the Maiden Tower.

“Currently, the observation area on top of the Maiden Tower is temporarily closed for security reasons. The media reports claiming that a glass dome will be built on top of the tower are untrue. We emphasize that this is not true and no dome will be on the upper part of the tower,” Rahib Azeri said.

Earlier it was reported that a glass dome will be built atop the Maiden Tower to provide tourists’ security and prevent increasing suicide cases in the tower. The rumors came after a young girl jumped to death from the tower, which has 28 meters in height, a couple of days ago.
