Azerbaijan to mark World Maritime Day

The Azerbaijani State Maritime Administration is preparing to celebrate the World Maritime Day, the administration reported on Friday.
The International Maritime Organization (IMO) made a decision to celebrate the World Maritime Day at the tenth session of the IMO Assembly in 1978. The exact date is left to individual governments but is usually celebrated during the last week in September.

On this day, attention is focused on importance of shipping safety, maritime security and marine environment.

Azerbaijan annually celebrates this date as a IMO member.
