One more ancient settlement found in Azerbaijan

Archaeological excavations were carried out in the settlements dating back to late Bronze Age and Early Iron Age with a area of 125 square meters in Yastitapa area in Agstafa region of Azerbaijan.

The excavations found the remains of pottery, cutting tools and fragments of buildings dating back 3-4 thousand years. Researcher at the Institute of Archaeology and Ethnography of ANAS Shamil Najafov said gray and black pottery in Yastitapa refers to Khojali-Gadabay archaeological culture.

All items found in the settlement will be handed over to the archaeological foundation for radiocarbon analysis. Such ancient settlements are often found in Azerbaijan, particularly in Ganja-Gazakh area.
